Shalakya tantra is a specialized branch of Ayurveda focusing on diseases and treatments of the head and neck region, including the eyes, ears, nose, throat, and oral cavity. It encompasses both medical and surgical approaches, utilizing various Ayurvedic techniques and modern diagnostic tools.The department in our college provides education and training in Shalakya tantra, aiming to equip students with the knowledge and skills to diagnose, manage, and prevent diseases in these sensitive areas.

Scope
 
  • Shalakya tantra covers a wide range of conditions affecting the organs above the clavicle, including eye diseases (Netra Roga), ear diseases (Karna Roga), nose and throat conditions (Nasa Roga and Mukha Roga), and oral health (Danta Roga).


  • Ayurvedic Principles
     
  • The department applies Ayurvedic principles to treat these conditions, incorporating therapies like Kriya Kalpa (ophthalmic procedures), Nasya (nasal administration), and Shirodhara (oil pouring on the head).


  • Surgical Emphasis
     
  • Shalakya tantra also includes surgical and para-surgical procedures relevant to the field, such as minor surgeries for the eye, ear, nose, and throat.
